Sensory-Friendly Sunday at The Strong Museum January 27
December 21, 2018
For Immediate Release
at The Strong® Museum
Enjoy a quiet and play-filled morning during Sensory-Friendly Sunday at The Strong museum on Sunday, January 27 from 9 a.m. to noon. Children with special sensory, developmental, or physical needs can explore the museum in a comfortable and accepting environment.
The museum reduces light and sound stimulation and limits the number of guests for this event. Families can enjoy designated quiet areas with sensory-friendly toys and special story readings. Visit The Strong’s train yard to meet with staff from Autism Up and learn how they work with The Strong to help museum guests with special needs. Admission to the event also includes entry to the relaxing Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden before noon.
In 2018, The Strong held three successful Sensory-Friendly Sunday pilot programs. Because of the overwhelming guest support for these events, the museum made Sensory-Friendly Sundays a recurring program.
“We are always looking to improve and do the best we can for the families and children that visit the museum,” said Nicole Osier, human resources assistant. “We launched this program to give guests a chance to play in an environment that is comfortable and inclusive.”
Sensory-Friendly Sunday is limited to 250 guests. Tickets are $11 for museum members and $16 for non-members. Registration is required. Visit the museum’s website to purchase your tickets. Programs underwritten by Delta Air Lines, the official airline of The Strong.
