Community Access and Admissions Programs

The Strong’s community access programs make museum admission possible for Rochester-area children and families who might otherwise not have this opportunity. These programs ensure that each year thousands of children and adults with financial, physical, or social limitations can visit the museum and experience its rich educational resources and unique, playful environment.

  • Big Brother, Big Sister: The museum provides free museum admission to participants in the Big Brother, Big Sister program.
  • Client & Caregiver Membership ($125): Individuals looking to use the museum exhibits for therapy, skill building, or to just have fun can purchase an annual pass that includes admission for one named individual and one guest. Download application or order online.
  • Foster Family Admissions Program: This program provides a free museum membership to families who are actively fostering in select areas.
  • Hillside Residential Services Admission Pass: The Strong offers free museum admission to children who reside in Hillside Children’s Center’s Short Term Residential program.
  • Jordan Health Days: The museum provides free museum admission tickets to Jordan Health participants on select dates throughout the year.
  • Military and Veteran Discount: The museum offers a $5 discount on general admission fees to active-duty United States military personnel and veterans (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, and National Guard).
  • Monroe County Waiver Services: This program provides free museum admission to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities that need therapy and receive Medicaid. The program is administered by Hillside Children’s Health and Behavioral Health Services.
  • Nurse-Family Partnership: The Strong provides free museum admission to families enrolled in Monroe County Department of Public Health’s Nurse-Family Partnership, a program that improves the health, well-being, and self-sufficiency of low-income, first-time parents and their children.
  • Play Access Program: In collaboration with the Monroe County Office of Early Intervention Services and seven satellite sites in Monroe County, the Play Access Program allows therapists to use the museum environment to work on treatment plans for child clients suspected of having developmental delays.
  • SNAP/EBT – Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Discount: Individuals who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits can purchase museum admission tickets for $5 per person for themselves and three guests. Additionally, SNAP recipients receive a $74 discount on museum membership (Basic-level or higher).
  • Special Needs Discount: The museum offers a 50% general admission discount to select organizations caring for persons with physical and/or mental disabilities.
  • Support Staff Discount: The museum provides free museum admission to a licensed caregiver/aide from a human/social service agency accompanying or chaperoning their client. The licensed caregiver/aide must show a form of employment ID to receive the discount.
  • Sezzle: Guests can defray the cost of museum membership over four installments (each due two weeks apart) with Sezzle, an installment payment plan platform.
