National Toy Hall of Fame Celebration Weekend
Featuring The Boxtrolls
at The Strong November 8 & 9

Honor the newly inducted toys and revel in a weekend of activities featuring the cardboard box (2005 inductee) and jigsaw puzzle (2002 inductee) during National Toy Hall of Fame Celebration Weekend at The Strong® museum on November 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and November 9 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Jump into the underground world of The Boxtrolls and meet a member of the creative team behind the blockbuster movie, which opened third at the nationwide box office in September. This exclusive opportunity includes a presentation at 2 p.m. each day by Mark Shapiro, from Oregon-based LAIKA, the award-winning animation studio behind The Boxtrolls and Coraline (2009). See original puppets and props from The Boxtrolls and learn how the creative team at LAIKA brought these cardboard-clad characters to life. (Guests who show their museum receipt from Saturday, November 8 can receive $1 off a special screening of The Boxtrolls at The Little Theatre on Sunday, November 9 at 10:30 a.m.)

Continue the cardboard box celebration by becoming a cardboard box troll using stop-motion animation with Rochester Institute of Technology professor Tom Gasek, by designing your own creatureBox Trolls Movie Still, and checking out original works of art from cardboard artist Lou Iannone, who uses the material to make houses, trains, planes, and more.

Then become a piece of puzzle history and help put together “Wildlife,” the world’s largest jigsaw puzzle, which depicts dozens of exotic animals and colorful plants. The puzzle stands five feet tall, stretches 18 feet wide, and consists of 33,600 pieces. Use “Wildlife” to play an I Spy game and enjoy a variety of magnetic, wooden, and floor puzzles.
