Learn how to make handmade jewelry in a jewelry class offered by local artist, Rashad Parker. By the end of the class, you will have crafted a unique piece of jewelry that is one-of-a-kind and exclusively yours or the perfect holiday gift for a friend or family member! You are free to choose what to create: necklaces, earrings, rings, or bracelets. What you’ll learn:
· Basic knowledge of jewelry making process
· Knowledge of different types of clasps and findings
· Familiarity with jewelry-making tools and their uses
· Understanding basic techniques like wire wrapping and bead stringing
· How to create basic jewelry designs and how to modify them
Jewelry making is a fun and rewarding hobby that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It is a great way to express your creativity and to relax and de-stress. Learning a new skill is also good for your mental wellbeing, and jewelry making is a relatively easy skill to learn.
Rashaad Parker earned a Master’s degree in Fine Arts and Arts Management from the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, NY. Rashaad is a filmmaker, visual artist, and activist; whose work focuses on the intersectionality between art and social justice activism. He is the Community Outreach Manager and Youth Director for high-schoolers at the Flower City Arts Center, in Rochester, NY. He is also one of the founding members and current Creative Director/CFO of the 9th Floor Artists Collective, LLC.
