Celebrate Earth Day with the ScrapKins
at The Strong Museum
April 22

Learn about turning trash into artwork with the ScrapKins at The Strong museum on Earth Day, Friday, April 22 from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Join Brian Yanish, creator of the recycled arts program ScrapKins, for a recycling workshop and book signing. (Books will be available at the museum to purchase the day of the event.) Rethink the way you see “junk” and learn how to turn ordinary household items into works of art. Meet and take pictures with Itcher, one of six characters in the ScrapKins book series.

Yanish, an author and illustrator originally from Pittsford, New York, published ScrapKins Junk Re-thunk  in March, an activity book about a group of creatures who use their creativity to build a world from thrown away items. Yanish’s ScrapKins program encourages self-expression and environmental awareness among children around the world. Organizations such as the American Museum of Natural History and Scholastic Afterschool featured Yanish’s recycling art programs. He has also appeared on Sesame Street.

All Earth Day activities included with general museum admission fees. Programs underwritten in part by Delta Air Lines, the official airline of The Strong.
