Reindeer Run Family-Friendly Foot Race
at the National Museum of Play
Have you “herd”? The second annual Reindeer Run, a unique, family-friendly foot race with proceeds benefitting The Strong, is scheduled for Saturday, December 21 at 8:30 a.m. (Check in at 7:30 a.m.) Produced by YellowJacket Racing and sponsored by Fleet Feet Sports, the all-ages run is downtown Rochester’s only winter 5K event and includes a half-mile kids’ race. Reindeer antlers are available to the first 1,750 registrants, including kids’ run participants.
Participants have the rare opportunity to run on the Inner Loop, which will be closed in honor of this race! The 5K course starts at the intersection of Pitkin and Broad Streets and ends at the National Museum of Play. A concluding awards ceremony takes place in the museum theater. Awards will recognize the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as top three in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15–19, 20–24, 25–29, 30–34, 35–-39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, and 70 and older.
Participants are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite toy and race organizers will award prizes to the three most creatively costumed contestants.
Says Ellen Brenner-Boutillier, vice president and chief financial officer of Fleet Street Sports and YellowJacket Racing, “We are delighted to again present this festive, winter event in downtown Rochester and partner with The Strong. A record 1,300 runners participated in the inaugural Reindeer Run, and we hope more will join in the fun this year.”
Registration is available at both Fleet Feet Sports Locations (2210 Monroe Avenue or 2522 Ridgeway Avenue). For additional details or to register online, visit yellowjacketracing.com/reindeer-run-5k.
