Plan a Visit FAQ

Plan a Visit to The Strong Museum FAQs

How long should I plan to stay at The Strong?

Most guests spend three to five hours exploring the museum, depending on how many exhibits and play spaces they want to experience. Families with young children often lean toward the longer end because there’s so much hands-on play to enjoy.

Is The Strong good for one-year-olds?

Yes. While some exhibits are geared toward older kids, there are plenty of areas a one-year-old can enjoy. There are toddler-only areas in Wegmans Super Kids Market and Imagination Destination on the museum’s first floor.

Can I bring bags into the museum?

Yes. Bags and wagons are permitted throughout the museum. Bags and strollers are subject to security inspection.

Are lockers available?

Yes. Lockers are available to rent—$4 for large and $5 for jumbo—to store your belongings while you play and explore.

Can I bring a stroller or rent one?

You’re welcome to bring your own stroller. We do not offer stroller rentals.

Are wheelchairs available?

A limited number of wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and we do not provide powered scooters.

Can I bring snacks or lunch?

You’re welcome to bring snacks, beverages, and brown-bag lunches. We simply ask that all food be enjoyed in the food court. Parties, cakes, and picnics aren’t allowed inside the museum.

Can I leave and come back the same day?

Definitely. Same-day reentry is easy. Just ask for a reentry hand stamp at the check-in podium before you exit. If you leave the garage, please note that additional parking fees may apply.

How can I find my way around the museum?

Download The Strong Museum map on your iPhone or Android device before you arrive.

Does The Strong offer audio tours?

Yes! Download The Strong’s Bloomberg Connects app for engaging audio tours, behind-the-scenes stories, and multilingual descriptions of exhibits.

Is The Strong a smoke-free campus?

Yes. The Strong is a no smoking and no vaping campus, indoors and out.

When is the best time to visit for smaller crowds?

Weekdays—especially early mornings and late afternoons—typically offer the smallest crowds. Weekends, school breaks, and holidays tend to be busier, and arriving at opening often provides the most relaxed experience.

What is included in an admission ticket?

An admission ticket includes The Strong’s permanent and temporary exhibits, access to the Play Lab, and most experiences throughout the museum. Some special programs and attractions, such as Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden and Ralph Wilson Skyline Climb, require an additional fee.

Do you offer accommodations for guests with special needs?

Yes. The Strong provides a range of accessibility accommodations, including wheelchairs available on a first-come, first-served basis; accessible restrooms; elevators; and assistance from staff for guests who may need extra support or a quieter space. Visitors with specific needs are encouraged to speak with a team member during their visit.
