Playfully Patriotic Exhibit Now Open at The Strong

Celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence at a special exhibit—Playfully Patriotic—now open at The Strong National Museum of Play.

George Bush Paper Dolls

Explore American history through the lens of play and view unique artifacts from the museum’s collections, including:

  • Statue of Liberty toys, showcasing America’s freedom to be funny, including a Statue of Liberty Cabbage Patch doll, rubber duck, and jigsaw puzzle.
  • Statue of Liberty-themed souvenirs and products, such as fans, sparklers, lighters, and even a can of fruit cocktail.
  • Toys, games, and other playthings that honor American presidents—such dolls of
  • George Washington and Abraham Lincoln doll—but also ones that poke satirical fun at them, such as Pez dispensers featuring Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush.
  • Symbols of American pride that people have wanted to showcase, including a license-plate holder featuring an American flag and bald eagle, as well as a Statue of Liberty mask.

The Strong wishes to thank the following individuals for donating artifacts to help make this exhibit possible: The Iris. F.  Hollander November Collection, donated by Mort and Iris November in honor of her mother, Celeste Coriene Flaxman.

The exhibit is included with general museum admission.
