From holiday performances to cultural celebrations to science-fiction fun, there’s something for everyone at The Strong National Museum of Play this November:

Nutcracker and Christmas Carol Previews
November 11
11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Enjoy a magical day at Strong filled with storytelling and dance taken from The Nutcracker, Tchaikovsky’s beloved ballet. This special Veteran’s Day program is presented in conjunction with the Rochester City Ballet and features professional dancers. The Nutcracker runs from November 24­ to 28 at Kodak Hall at Eastman Theater, and from December 10 to 12 at the Fort Hill Performing Arts Center in Canandaigua.

11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Costumed cast member from Geva Theatre Center’s production of A Christmas Carol will also be on hand to read selections from the Charles Dickens’ classic about a man rediscovering the true spirit of the holiday season. The appearance is presented in conjunction with upcoming performances of A Christmas Carol at Geva Theatre Center from November 24 through December 24.

National Native American History Month
November 13
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Join Alfred Jacques, an acclaimed Onondaga lacrosse stick maker to view a collection of sticks and balls from various regions and watch live stick making demonstrations! Watch live demonstrations of traditional Seneca corn husk doll making with Ronnie Reitter from the Native Roots Artists Guild.

In Another Galaxy Weekend
November 20 & 21

Come dressed as your favorite science-fiction character and be transported to another galaxy. Meet characters from the 501st Legion (Vader’s Fist) and Rebel Legion—all in full, Star Wars regalia. Also, meet an alien princess and other galactic beings. Use your imagination to create your own alien and enjoy sci-fi LEGO builds from the Rochester Lego User Group.

All activities are included with general museum admission fees.

Museum Hours: The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

General Admission Fees: Age 2 and older $18, under age 2 free, members free. Fees subject to change.

Admission to Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden: General Admission fee plus $4 for members, $5 for non-members, under age 2 free. Fees subject to change.

Parking: Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis in the museum’s parking garage for free now through the end of July. Parking is $5 for non-members. Members can use one of their six annual parking validations during their visit. Once all validations are used, members may park in the garage for $5.
