During Soccer Smash Weekend
at The Strong Museum
April 23 & 24

Bounce in for exclusive screenings of the animated movie Seleccion Canina (K9 World Cup) and meet award-winning director Ricardo Arnaiz during Soccer Smash Weekend at The Strong museum on Saturday, April 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, April 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. Enjoy a weekend full of mascot meet-and-greets, soccer skills tips, and crafts.

See the Rochester premiere of the full-length, family-friendly film Seleccion Canina (K9 World Cup) in Spanish at 12:30 p.m. and English at 3 p.m. (Seating for the full-length movie screenings is limited.) The film tells the story of how an all-canine soccer team works together to play the game. Director Ricardo Arnaiz will introduce each screening and speak to guests about the film-making and translation processes that helped bring Seleccion Canina (K9 World Cup) to life. Arnaiz, who founded Animex Productions in Mexico in 2000, has produced and directed a number of movies and television pilots, including The Legend of the Nahuala, which premiered number one at the Mexican box office in 2007. This is the second time that Arnaiz will address guests at The Strong museum; in 2014, he presented an exclusive Rochester premiere of his film El Americano: The Movie.

            All weekend long:

  • Meet with local sport team mascots—Western New York Flash’s Striker on Saturday from 1–3 p.m. and Rochester Rhino’s Rex on Sunday from 1–2 p.m.
  • Show off fancy footwork, dynamic dribbling, and perfect passing in the soccer play area.
  • Share knowledge and win prizes with sports trivia.
  • Learn about different opportunities to play soccer in the Rochester area.
  • Use your creativity to make your own soccer flip book.

All Soccer Smash activities are included with general museum admission fees. Seleccion Canina (K9 World Cup) is distributed in the United States by TriCoast International.
