AND—Indicates that the records found must contain all the words joined by the AND operator. For example, to find objects that contain the words wizard, oz, and movie, enter wizard AND oz AND movie.

OR—Records found must contain at least one of the words joined by OR. For example, to find objects that contain the word dog or the word puppy, enter dog OR puppy.

AND NOT—Indicates that the records found cannot contain the word that follows the term AND NOT. For example, to find objects that contain the word pets but not the word dogs, enter pets AND NOT dogs.

I, Robot

arcade game

Atari released I, Robot in 1983. As the first video game to use polygon-based 3D graphics, I, Robot was influential in the advancement of the video game industry. Noted game designer David Theurer- of Missile Command and Tempest fame- was the mastermind of the technological advanced game. In I, Robot, players control Interface Robot #1984. The game's outer space setting includes the threatening eye of Big Brother and a series of obstacle courses devised of colored polygonal shapes. The objective of the game is to destroy Big Brother and his evil eye. By crossing the colored tiles and thereby changing their color, players weaken Big Brother's defense shield enabling them to attack Big Brother. "Doodle City" is a supplementary mode of I, Robot. In this mode, players can take a break from the stressful action of the game, to create polygonal patterns onscreen. A movable camera viewpoint enables players to view the playfield from different perspectives. Technological advancement is a necessary and inherent characteristic of the video game industry. Whether these advancements are made in a popular or unpopular game is often irrelevant. I, Robot may not have been a commercially successful game, but the technological advancements that it introduced have had a significant impact on the industry.
