For Immediate Release
It’s Grown-ups’ Night at the Museum!
The Strong’s Inaugural Fundraiser
Friday, September 23, 2011
While the kids are away the grown-ups will play! The Strong’s National Museum of Play will be transformed into an adult-friendly playground—for grown-ups only!—for The Play Ball on Friday, September 23 from 6 to 10 p.m., the first-ever fundraising event to benefit The Strong. The museum will create a magical evening guaranteed to delight every adult’s inner child. (The museum will close to the public at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 23 in order to prepare for this event.)
Come dressed in “creative cocktail” attire—silly hats, magic wands, feather boas, and accessories—or crazy costumes. Savor favorite childhood foods with a grown-up twist; and sip on complimentary wine, beer, and signature cocktails. Marvel at amazing, one-of-a-kind live performances; meet colorful, strolling costumed characters; engage in playful activities; and participate in irresistible live and silent auctions led by local celebrities.
Louise Woerner and Don Kollmorgen (pictured at left), longtime supporters of The Strong, are serving as honorary co-chairs. According to Woerner, “The Strong has grown significantly over the last 20 years and like most other not-for-profit organizations, it must seek new revenue sources to support its operation. The Play Ball offers a great opportunity for adults to fully experience Western New York’s largest cultural attraction. Community support for this first-ever fundraising event has been extraordinary and The Play Ball will sell out quickly!”
Among the leading sponsors for the Play Ball are HCR Home Care of Rochester, Canfield & Tack, Wegmans Food Markets, Harris Beach PLLC, MVP Health Care, Monroe County, COMIDA, and the Rochester Business Journal.
Tickets are $150 per person, $1,500 for 10 tickets. All proceeds will benefit The Strong. To purchase tickets for The Play Ball, contact Rosi Statt at 585-899-3292 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
