Lions, and tigers, and bears. . .oh, my!

Follow the Yellow Brick Road to The Wizard of Oz exhibit at the National Museum of Play at The Strong®. Come over the rainbow with Dorothy and Toto on a multi-sensory exploration of the colorful Land of Oz. Meet and greet many of the characters and enjoy Oz-themed crafts and activities at exciting interactive programs for kids and families throughout the run of this exhibit:


Saturday, January 21, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.  
Sunday, January 22, noon– 4 p.m.
The Wizard of Oz Opening Celebration

Meet Dorothy, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, and Tin Man from the classic movie, and don’t forget your camera! Join Sarah Peters and other local actors for an interactive theatrical experience including songs from the film. Create rainbow works of art. Included with general museum admission fees.


Monday, January 23, 10 a.m –2 p.m.
Monday Kicks for Ages 2 to 6:
Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Enjoy The Wizard of Oz-themed songs, dance, and movement activities with teaching artist Sarah Peters and use light tables to explore the magic of colors. Included with general museum admission fees.

Valentine’s Weekend with Tin Man

Meet Tin Man and Dorothy and pose for pictures. Create a beautiful heart and other crafts for Valentine’s Day. Included with general museum admission fees.

Monday Kicks for Ages 2 to 6:
Hearts for Tin Man

Meet Tin Man and pose for pictures. Make a heart for Tin Man or a Valentine’s Day card for your loved ones. Included with general museum admission fees.

The Wizard of Oz Weekend

Bubbles are the theme as Glinda, the Good Witch floats in for a spell. Meet the beloved witch and pose for pictures. Ooh and ahhh over gigantic bubbles and entertaining humor at performances of Bubble Man Doug Rougeux’s Bubblemania on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on Sunday at 1 and 3 pm. Experiment with color and light and create Oz-themed works of art. Enjoy live performances by The College of Brockport Xylophone Ensemble on Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m. Included with general museum admission fees.

School-Break Week in Munchkinland

Help build Munchkinland, construct an Emerald City, and more. Included with general museum admission fees.

Museum Hours: Monday–Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to
8 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. 

Admission Fees: General Admission (does not include admission to Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden®): Adults $13, Seniors $12, Children (2–15) $11, Children younger than two free, Museum members free.

Admission to Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden: General Admission fee plus $2 for members, $4 for nonmembers; children under 2 free. Entry is by timed ticket only.

Parking: Free parking is available at the museum for all guests on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that, on high visitation days, the museum lot may reach capacity early in the day. If space is not available on site at the time of your visit, additional parking is available at neighboring municipal garages for a fee. The Strong is not responsible for fees incurred at off-site locations.
