The Strong is pleased to announce a slate of onsite and virtual events for the month of December to celebrate the holiday season. All events will follow the museum’s Safe Play COVID-19 guidelines:
 
Pirate Toy Fund Drive Finale
December 5, 2 p.m.
Join the Pirate Toy Fund team as they mark the end of their annual toy drive and watch the reveal of the Xceed Toy-ometer to see if they reached their goal! (The Strong is a year-round collection site for the Pirate Toy Fund.)
 
Stories about the Stuff Virtual Event
December 8, 11 a.m.
Join The Strong’s chief curator, Chris Bensch, for a special, virtual presentation—Decking the Halls to Shopping Malls: American Christmas Traditions and How They Grew. Explore the origins and changing styles for such standard holiday features as the Christmas tree, ornaments, stockings, and greeting cards. And discover how the Victorian period established familiar holiday patterns for everything from gift-giving stress to traffic jams of shoppers. Purchase Tickets
 
(Canceled) NYS Ballet Nutcracker Preview-On Site
December 12, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. (Canceled)
Join the New York State Ballet for a preview performance of the holiday classic The Nutcracker at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Paycheck Theater. (The theater will have limited capacity and be in accordance with New York State guidelines.)
 
LEGO Winter Wonderland School Break
December 19–31
Celebrate the holiday season with LEGO! Marvel at two, giant LEGO displays from the Rochester LEGO Users Group, including a wintry city and medieval village decked out for the holidays.(School Break is sponsored by Fidelis Care. Event support provided by Autism Learning Partners.)

Museum Hours: The museum’s December hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. All guests, including members, must have a ticket to enter the museum. Learn more at museumofplay.org/play-safe.

General Admission Fees: Age 2 and older $18, under age 2 free, members free. Fees subject to change.

Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden Hours: The garden’s December hours are 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. Last entry is at 2:15 p.m.

Admission to Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden: General Admission fee plus $4 for members, $5 for non-members, under age 2 free. Fees subject to change.

Parking: Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis in the museum’s parking garage for free now through the end of July. Parking is $5 for non-members. Members can use one of their six annual parking validations during their visit. Once all validations are used, members may park in the garage for $5.
