The Strong museum is pleased to announce that the Strong School Club—launched in August to provide a safe, supervised space for remote learning—has been extended through December 18. The Club offers students in grades 1 through 5 an environment to attend their virtual school lessons, work on assignments and projects, and complete their homework in socially distant settings adhering to the museum’s COVID-19 safety protocols.

The Strong School Club offers one, two, three, four, and five day a week options for families and runs daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It provides supervision by museum staff, dedicated and socially distant workspaces, free Wi-Fi access, and activities in the museum after 3 p.m. Early drop-off at 7:45 a.m. and after-care pick-up until 5:30 p.m. is available for an additional fee.

The specific daily schedule for each student depends on their school district needs but includes time for their virtual lessons and project work, along with breaks, lunch (provided by the student), and activities in the museum. Parents complete a daily written schedule form for students that lists virtual classes, including times and login info. (Museum staff are able to provide some assistance to students but are not trained to work on specific projects, curriculum, or educational plans.)

Students follow the museum’s Safe Play policies, which include wearing masks at all times (when not eating), staying six feet from other students, and cleaning their hands frequently. Students must complete a temperature check and health screen daily. Museum staff will regularly clean the spaces with hospital-grade disinfectant and follow all New York State COVID-19 requirements.

Registration: The Strong School Club is $50 for members and $55 for nonmembers daily. Pre-care (7:45 a.m.) and after-care (until 5:30 p.m.) are an additional $5 per day. Those interested in the extended days can fill out the online application form at museumofplay.org. A limited number of scholarship slots are available for those receiving SNAP benefits and with a valid EBT card. Fill out the application and then email strongschoolclub@museumofplay.org for more information about available funding.
