Newly Renovated Auditorium
at The Strong Renamed
"Paychex Theater"

ROCHESTER, NEW YORK—The Strong is pleased to announce that its 290-seat auditorium has been renamed the Paychex Theater to acknowledge Paychex’s support of the museum and a recent gift of $250,000 from Paychex, Inc. to benefit Powered by Play: A Campaign for The Strong. The newly renamed theater space recently completed more significant upgrades, including a new projector, stage curtain, sound system, lighting, FM assistive listening system (to help those with hearing aids and cochlear implants), and a renovated front entrance area. The theater renovation and naming are part of The Strong’s larger expansion project, which include a 90,000-square-foot museum expansion that will become the centerpiece of the all-new Neighborhood of Play—a transformative development project funded in part by The Strong’s $60-million campaign.

“Paychex has been a longtime supporter and partner of The Strong, and they are true stewards in the community,” says Steve Dubnik, president and CEO of The Strong. “They have also used the museum’s theater space as the primary site for their annual shareholder meeting since 2011, so it’s only fitting to name the space in their honor. We appreciate their ongoing commitment to The Strong and to the Rochester community.”

The Paychex Theater hosts dozens of performances each year—such as the Happy Pirates, Bright Star Theatre, Eastman School of Music, and Rochester Lyric Opera—and the support of Paychex will allow the museum to expand those offerings. Many of the performances are included with general museum admission fees and accessible, particularly with the help of the museum’s outreach programs and SNAP discount, to all in the Rochester region.

“Paychex was founded in Rochester nearly 50 years ago, and it has always been home to our corporate headquarters. The continued growth and success of the greater Rochester community is important to Paychex, which is why we are proud to support The Strong National Museum of Play with this gift,” says Martin Mucci, Paychex president and CEO. “The Strong is one of Rochester’s most valued and recognizable institutions, as well as a destination for thousands of national and international visitors.  We hope our contribution to The Strong and our support of its expansion inspire other businesses to show their support.”
