An Evening for Adults at the Museum!
The Strong’s Ninth Annual Play Ball
on Friday, October 25

Enjoy a special night exploring The Strong museum after hours during its ninth annual fundraising gala for grown-ups only—the Play Ballon Friday, October 25, from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Guests are invited to wear glittering black and gold—or go all out and come dressed as a favorite game character or toy. (Costumes are admired, but not required.) This year’s Play Ball will include unique entertainment, interactive exhibit spaces, and a surprise around every corner.

“The DelMonte Family is proud to serve as honorary co-chairs of Play Ball at such a pivotal time in the museum’s history,” says John Del Monte, Chief Executive Officer at DelMonte Hotel Group. Del Monte, along with his family, continue the tradition of a multi-generational model of chairing the Play Ball this year. “The transformation that is underway will expand an institution in the Rochester community that continues to bring people together through the simple act of play. We look forward to helping build the excitement for the expansion that will have a lasting impact on our community.”

This year, The Strong will welcome comedic mime Tape Face to the main stage—a top 10 finalist on season 11 of NBC’s America’s Got Talent and contestant on this year’s America's Got Talent: The Champions. He was awarded The Press People’s Choice Award at the World Buskers Festival in 2008. Along with performances by Tape Face, guests will enjoy featured entertainment from DJ Naps of BreakThrough Entertainment. Savor irresistible cuisine and delicious desserts courtesy of Wegmans and sip on creative cocktails from Good Luck’s team of mixologists. Play throughout the museum galleries and enjoy unlimited video game play, rides on the carousel, and journey through Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden.

Among the leading sponsors for the Play Ball are The Toy Association, Mary Valentine, Wegmans, DelMonte Hotel Group, Imagine Monroe, LeChase Construction Services, LLC, Delta Air Lines, Konar Properties, Partners & Napier, Birnbaum Companies, Bolton St. Johns, CJS Architects, Conifer Realty, LLC, ESL Charitable Foundation, Harter Secrest & Emery, M/E Engineering, USI Insurance Services, and Visit Rochester.  The museum will be closed to the public on Friday, October 25 to prepare for the event.

Tickets are $200 per person. Funds raised support the many education and outreach programs provided by The Strong. To purchase tickets for the Play Ball, contact Kylee Fassler, donor engagement and special events manager, at 585-410-6346 or For more information about the Play Ball, visit
