For Immediate Release
at The Strong® Museum
Wednesdays, October 2–December 18
Learn all about the animals in Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden during Animal Encounters at The Strong museum on Wednesdays from October 2 through December 18 at noon. Enjoy a special presentation from museum staff and get up close to animals that live in the garden. Discover the animals’ feeding habits and where they can be found in the wild.
“From giant stick insects and a ball python to frogs and scorpions, the museum’s live collections are filled with an array of amazing animals,” says Anna Simpson, supervisor of live collections. “Animal Encounters give our guests a special opportunity to check out some of these critters they might not normally get to see. They can also speak one-on-one with a member of the Live Collections team, ask questions about life in the garden, and may even get a chance to pet one of the animals.”
Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden is the only year-round, indoor butterfly garden in upstate New York and is home to hundreds of free-flying, tropical and native butterflies, as well as a chameleon, turtles, a tortoise, and a green aracari toucan.
Garden fees apply for Animal Encounters. Guests may purchase general museum admission plus butterfly garden tickets online or at the museum’s admissions desk. Programs underwritten in part by Delta Air Lines, the official airline of The Strong.
