Winter 2011 Schedules
at the National Museum of Play®

Toddler Book Club 

Join the Toddler Book Club at the National Museum of Play at the Strong™ on selected Mondays at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. Parents and toddlers will enjoy readings of award-winning books, and then join in related music and movement activities. The Toddler Book Club fall schedule follows.

Mondays, January 3, 10 & 24: Wordless Wonders. Is a picture really worth 1,000 words? Enjoy picture books such as Tuesday, Zoom, and Flotsam.  

Monday, January 17: Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with story readings designed to teach little ones about this famous civil rights leader.

Mondays, February 7, 14, 21 & 28: Valentines. Show your love with Valentine’s Day-themed stories such as Biscuit’s Valentine’s Day, Arthur’s Valentine, and Guess How Much I Love You. 

Mondays, March 7, 14, 21 & 28. Outer Space. Blast off with stories of space adventure, such as There’s No Place Like Space, What’s Out There?, Bugs in Space, and Star Seeker.

All Toddler Book Club programs are included with general museum admission fees.

Monday Kicks for Ages 2 to 6

Enjoy playful learning activities with your child at the Monday Kicks for Ages 2 to 6 series at the National Museum of Play at the Strong. Designed by museum educators, this series helps parents teach little ones important skills through play. Programs take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. one Monday a month. Upcoming programs include:

Monday, January 10: Imagine That! Sing and dance along with teaching artist Sarah Peters.

Monday, February 14: Be My Valentine. Meet Biscuit, the popular storybook pup. Make a Valentine’s Day card for a loved one and get a temporary heart tattoo.    

Monday, March 7: Outer Space. Explore the universe through song and dance with teaching artist Sarah Peters. Make an out-of-this-world craft. 

Monday Kicks programs are included with general museum admission fees.




Museum Hours: Monday–Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.;  Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.

Admission Fees (effective January 1, 2011): General Admission (does not include admission to Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden®): Adults $12; Seniors $11; Children (2–15) $10; Children younger than two free; Strong members free.

Admission to Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden (effective January 1, 2011): General Admission fee plus $2 for members, $4 for nonmembers; Children under 2 free. Entry is by timed ticket only. Please call 585-263-2700 to reserve and purchase tickets.

Parking: Free parking is available at the museum for all guests on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that, on high visitation days, the museum lot may reach capacity early in the day. If space is not available on site at the time of your visit, additional parking is available at neighboring municipal garages for a fee. The Strong is not responsible for fees incurred at off-site locations.
