All New! Literature Live Series Launched
by National Museum of Play® at the Strong™

Literary characters jump off the pages of your favorite books and into the National Museum of Play at the Strong at Literature Live, an all-new museum weekend series that pairs storybook character appearances with story readings.

Designed by Strong educators to instill a love of reading in young children, the first Literature Live weekend begins with an appearance by Skippyjon Jones from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 8 and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 9. Related story readings will take place Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., and Sunday at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.

The series continues on selected weekends throughout the entire year. Each weekend, kids and families have the opportunity to meet, greet, and pose for photos with some of the most popular storybook characters of all time and enjoy related story readings. Guests can continue the experience at home by checking out a book at the museum’s Gelser Library (a mini-branch of the Monroe County Library System).

Upcoming Literary Live weekends take place on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. as follow:

January 8 & 9: Skippyjon Jones, the frisky, Siamese kitten.

January 22 & 23: Max, the lovable bunny from the Max and Ruby books.

February 12 & 13: Biscuit, the playful pup.

March 12 & 13: Peter Rabbit, from Beatrix Potter’s classic stories.

March 19 & 20: Curious George, everyone’s favorite, mischievous little monkey.

Stay tuned! Additional Literature Live weekends are planned throughout the year.
