Decking the Halls to Shopping Malls: American Christmas Traditions and How They Grew
Although Christmas traditions may seem like they’ve been around forever, many can actually be traced to the second half of the 19th century. Join The Strong's chief curator, Chris Bensch to explore the origins and changing styles for such standard holiday features as the Christmas tree, ornaments, stockings, and greeting cards. And discover how the Victorian period established familiar holiday patterns for everything from gift-giving stress to traffic jams of shoppers.
Tickets include access to the virtual event and a question-and-answer session. Tickets are not refundable. Admission to this event is not covered by museum membership and does not include general museum or butterfly garden admission.
