Discover what it takes to be a board game designer and create your own game during Global Game Jam Next (GGJ Next®). Join museum staff as they lead interactive and hands-on workshops to generate board game ideas. Work with local youth to explore fundamental concepts of game design, including playtesting, game genres, game narrative, and more. Construct paper prototypes of your board game and come up with unique mechanics and rules. Learn about the skills needed to produce a successful board game, such as the importance of teamwork, staying on budget, and prioritizing tasks.
The program is open to ages 12 to 17. All children ages 12 to 15 must be signed into the museum by an adult upon check-in and signed out by an adult at the conclusion of the program. Tickets are required for all guests and may be purchased online or by calling Guest Information Services at 585-263-2700. Guests must present tickets at the museum admissions desk the day of the event. Admission is limited to 40 guests. Tickets are non-refundable.
