Rainy weather didn’t deter the more than 1,800 runners—many sporting antlers or other festive attire—who participated in the second annual Reindeer Run in December 2013 to benefit The Strong. The event raised $3,500 for museum educational programs.
Have you “herd”?
The next Reindeer Run, a unique family-friendly foot race with proceeds benefitting The Strong, is scheduled for the morning of Saturday, December 20, 2014. Sprint over for downtown Rochester’s only all-ages winter 5K event and half-mile kids’ race. Reindeer antlers are available to the first 1,750 registrants, including kids’ run participants.
The 5K course starts at the intersection of Pitkin and Broad streets and ends at The Strong. Participants have the rare opportunity to run on the Inner Loop, which is closed in honor of the race!
The finish line
The race concludes with an awards ceremony in the museum theater. Awards recognize the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as top three in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15–19, 20–24, 25–29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, and 70 and older.
The fastest male and female reindeer (contestant must be wearing reindeer antlers throughout the entire race) across the line will also receive prizes.
Participants are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite toy. Race organizers will award prizes to the three most creatively costumed contestants.
