April 16: A Midsummer Night’s Dream Ballet Preview

Delight in selected scenes from New York State Ballet’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream performed at The Strong museum on Saturday, April 16 at noon and 2 p.m. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is presented by the New York State Ballet in honor of the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s passing.

A Midsummer Night's Dream Ballet Preview

A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a dance adaptation of Shakespeare’s famous play, takes place in an enchanted forest filled with fairies. A mischievous elf named Puck mistakenly casts a spell on the wrong people wandering through the woods. After transforming one of the locals into a donkey and accidentally bewitching the Queen, Puck and the King of the Fairies work to reverse the magic. The story incorporates humor and dance to tell the classic tale.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream preview is included with general museum admission fees, and is in conjunction with upcoming performances of the ballet on April 23 and 24 at the Kodak Center for Performing Arts.

Museum public programs underwritten in part by Delta Air Lines, the official airline of The Strong.
