Build, Drive, Go Exhibit
Opening Celebration at The Strong
December 5 & 6

Zoom in for the opening of the Build, Drive, Go exhibit at The Strong® museum on Saturday, December 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, December 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. Enjoy a weekend full of building- and construction-themed activities and musical performances.

All weekend long, check out cars from the Greater Rochester Soap Box Derby and meet their drivers. (Every year a local soap box derby race is held on Lakeshore Boulevard at Durand Eastman Beach. The winners from each division move on to the World Championships race in Akron, Ohio.) Then view a large, unique display by the Rochester LEGO group that features an airport, forts, ships, and more. Several individual LEGO displays created by members of the organization will also be on view. Enjoy make it and take it activities that include tire track art and cardboard race car design.

On Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. only, join Colleen Bernstein, a versatile musician dedicated to arts education, along with Eastman School of Music alumni, for an interactive concert of original and existing works inspired by the Build, Drive, Go exhibit. The program centers on the construction of music and the group will engage the audience in collectively “building” a unique piece of music. On Sunday at 1 and 2 p.m. only, meet local author Robin Pulver and enjoy story readings of her book Axle Annie, which is about an enthusiastic school bus driver who always gets her bus up the snowy hills and delivers the kids to school safe and sound.

Explore the history of construction toys and vehicles of all sorts—from trucks and trains to planes and boats in the Build, Drive, Go exhibit. Stop for a picture at an oversized traffic light, stack large Duplo bricks at the colorful Duplo Wall to make your own design, and climb into a dump truck and manipulate the levers and controls. View vehicle- and building-related artifacts from the museum collections.

All Build, Drive, Go exhibit opening activities are included with general museum admission fees.
