Star Wars Epic Yarns Display Now Open
at The Strong Museum

Journey to a galaxy far, far away at the Star Wars Epic Yarns display now open at The Strong museum. The display—a prelude to The Strong’s In Another Galaxy Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, November 14 and 15—features illuminated illustrations from the Star Wars Epic Yarns book series; background scenery and props; and more than a dozen felted characters, including Darth Vader, Yoda, Boba Fett, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and others.

Published in April 2015 by artistic duo Jack and Holman Wang, the Star Wars Epic Yarns book series tells the story of the original three Star Wars films in three books, each composed of 12 words and 12 needle-felted illustrations. The books feature imagery of iconic scenes created through needle-felt art, elaborate hand-crafted sets and props, and photography such as the first lightsaber duel between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker.

“We are thrilled to share our felted figures and Star Wars Epic Yarns books with guests of all ages,” says Jack Wang. “The Strong museum is a wonderful place. My brother and I have both traveled to visit the museum with our families to play and explore.”

Twin brothers Jack and Holman Wang were raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, and began collaborating on artistic endeavors at a very early age. They started writing and illustrating books together when they were in third grade. Jack is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Writing at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York, and Holman, an artist and former teacher, lives in British Columbia.

Jack Wang will visit the museum again to interact with guests during In Another Galaxy Weekend on November 14 and 15. He will talk about the book series, sign autographs, and show guests his needle felting tools.

The Star Wars Epic Yarns display is included with general museum admission fees. Star Wars Epic Yarns images created by Jack and Holman Wang, © 2015 Lucasfilm Ltd. Star Wars is a registered TM of Lucasfilm Ltd.
