Girl Scouts

Badge programs are available for Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, and Senior Girl Scouts. (Badges are not included.) Programs listed below meet new GSUSA program requirements found in GSUSA publications. Self-guided backpack experiences may be scheduled at the troop's convenience. Facilitated workshops are led by a museum educator and take place on the dates indicated with each description.

The museum also offers two unique programs for scouts of any age—Scouts Give Back and Scouts at Play.

Daisy

Golden Honey Bee Award Facilitated WorkshopDaisy Scout
Earn one portion of the "Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden: It’s Your World—Change It!" journey. Learn about butterfly life cycles and how insects make the world a better place. Discuss how you, too, can make the world a better place. Receive a composting project to take home. Workshop includes a tour of the museum’s Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden®. Before attending the workshop, read chapters one through four of the “Amazing daisy and the Daisy Flower Garden” story from the journey book.

Lupe’s Story (Honest and Fair Petal) Self-Guided Backpack Experience
Practice being honest and fair through role-play! Listen to Lupe’s story and then pretend to be Lupe and her friends. Try on costumes and act out Lupe’s Story on the Kid to Kid stage. Do as the Flower Friends do by taking turns choosing which museum exhibits to explore as a group.

Brownie

Making Games Facilitated Badge Workshop
Earn the Making Games badge, one of the skill-building badges associated with the "A World of Girls" journey. Devise a mystery game, invent a new sport, and go on a game-themed scavenger hunt throughout the museum, including the National Toy Hall of Fame and eGameRevolution exhibit.

Senses Badge Self-Guided Backpack Experience 
Earn the Senses badge, one of the skill-building badges associated with the "WOW! Wonders of Water" journey. Scouts use hearing, sight, smell, and touch to learn about the world around them. Search for tiny objects in dollhouses from the museum’s renowned collections, listen to and identify sounds, follow someone using only the sense of smell, use a magnifying glass to examine taste buds, and more.
Cost: $9 per scout; minimum two and a half hours recommended

Girl Scouts

Junior

Earn the Entertainment Technology badge, one of the skill-building badges associated with the "Agent of Change" journey. Learn about the science behind the world of entertainment through unique activities such as making 3-D glasses. Explore the history of the video game industry and try to beat the high score on games in the eGameRevolution exhibit.

Special Agent Facilitated Badge Workshop
Earn the Special Agent badge, one of the skill-building badges associated with the "Breathe" journey. Scouts practice their powers of observation, communicate in code, fingerprint for fun, and explore the Mystery Mansion section of the Reading Adventureland exhibit.

Comic Artist Self-Guided Backpack Experience
Earn the Cadette Legacy’s Comic Artist badge. Delve into the world of comic books by exploring the American Comic Book Heroes exhibit. Participate in a series of creative exercises including story outlining, and discover drawing techniques such as rough sketches, showing motion, and adding speech bubbles to create one-of-a-kind comics.

Game Visionary Facilitated Badge Workshop
Earn the Game Visionary badge, one of the skill-building badges associated with the "Mission: Sisterhood" journey. Try amusing ice-breaker games, invent a massive board game, search for games throughout the museum during a game-themed scavenger hunt, and more.
