Groups arriving by car or on foot  may enter the museum through the main public entrance. Parking is free.

Unless other arrangements have been made prior to the visit, groups arriving by bus should come into the museum campus through the entrance located off Pitkin Street. After unloading, buses will be directed to a designated bus parking area. Please print out a bus parking map.

Youth Group Information

The museum welcomes large groups of children and teens visiting from day care centers, churches, summer camps, and other youth groups.

Adult chaperons required

Adult chaperons are required to accompany students on museum visits. Adult chaperons must be at least 16 years of age. One adult chaperon is required for every five youths and each 1:5 adult chaperon is admitted to the museum free of charge.

Chaperons beyond the 1:5 ratio, who are not members, pay full general admission.

All chaperons wishing to visit Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden pay garden admission.

Lunch reservations

Advance reservations for lunch seating are required for all groups planning to eat at the museum. Call 585-263-2700 Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Lunches may be brought by youth or ordered in advance from food court vendors on a menu designed specifically for groups. Lunches ordered from the food court will be delivered to a lunch room space reserved for your group. Groups planning to order from the food court must preorder lunches at least one week prior to the scheduled visit. Bag lunches may also be brought by groups, but the museum cannot accommodate requests for refrigeration or heating.

Payment

A non-refundable deposit of $50 for groups with fewer than 100 guests—50 percent for groups with 100 or more guests—is required at the time of booking. The balance of the payment is required when the group arrives. Cash, check (made payable to The Strong), money order, or credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover Card) is accepted. Checks and money orders must include the name and address of the group’s organizer.

Payment for group lunches must be made separately from payment for youth group fees. If not paying with cash, please consolidate payment for the entire lunch order into a single check or charge transaction.

Tips for before your trip
