Search Tips

Quotation Marks—Enclosing a multiword phrase in quotation marks tells the search engine to list only sites that contain those words in that exact order.

The following must appear in ALL CAPS and with a space on each side.

AND—Indicates that the records found must contain all the words joined by the AND operator. For example, to find objects that contain the words wizard, oz, and movie, enter wizard AND oz AND movie.

OR—Records found must contain at least one of the words joined by OR. For example, to find objects that contain the word dog or the word puppy, enter dog OR puppy.

AND NOT—Indicates that the records found cannot contain the word that follows the term AND NOT. For example, to find objects that contain the word pets but not the word dogs, enter pets AND NOT dogs.

Axis & Allies

board game

From 1984 to 1986, Miolton Bradley produced five war simulation games as part of their GameMaster series. These games consisted of Axis & Allies, Conquest of the Empire, Broadsides and Boarding Parties, Fortress America, and Shogun. Axis & Allies was the first and most popular game of the series, with nearly two million copies printed. Players choose to represent Germany, Japan, the US, the UK or the USSR, and attempt to capture enough enemy territories to win the war. Two spin-offs, Axis & Allies: Europe and Axis & Allies: Pacific, have since been released, as well as a new core game which includes Italy as the sixth country. Both war games and role-playing games in general are still extremely popular in all mediums today, and can especially be seen in electronic games such as Age of Empires and Civilizations.
