Through Powered by Play, a campaign for The Strong, we must raise $60 million to transform and expand the museum, preserve the history of play, promote the educational power of play, and bring joy to millions of children and families. With your support, The Strong’s $60 million Powered by Play campaign will fund a 100,000-square-foot expansion, the necessary renovations of the existing museum, and a 1,000-car parking garage to accommodate increased museum visitation of nearly one million guests per year.

The Strong is home to more than 480,000 historical artifacts related to play. The Strong's expansion will allow the museum to showcase even more of its nearly 65,000 artifacts related to electronic games—the largest such collection in the world—and provide immersive experiences that allow guests to feel as if they are inside some of the best-loved games of all time.

Based on extensive market research, this expansion will further extend the museum's reach beyond New York State, drawing millions of people to play and learn at The Strong and stay in the City of Rochester. The growth in visitation to The Strong is projected to generate more than $130 million in annual economic impact for the surrounding businesses and Rochester region.

The Strong’s expansion is only possible with the support of individual donors, corporations, foundations, and government funders. The Strong is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit.
