LEGO Travel Adventure Expedition
If students can imagine it, they can build it! Students explore, build, and play in the interactive LEGO Travel Adventure exhibit. Inspired by what they have seen while exploring, students design a vehicle using one of the greatest building materials of all time—LEGO bricks.
Lesson extensions for before or after your visit
The following activities are designed for your class to enjoy before or after your museum visit. Familiarizing students with the lesson concepts can enrich your museum experience.
Dream vacation
Plan a dream vacation with students. First ask students to pick out one place for an imaginary vacation. Then have students find the location on a map and plan a route to get there. Ask students what they might find along the route. Provide drawing materials and have students design an imaginary vehicle that they can use to get to the vacation destination. Finally, provide LEGO bricks and have students build the vehicle they drew.
Dramatic travel play
Provide the following props and encourage students to create a dramatic play involving travel:
- Maps
- Compasses
- Back packs
- Suitcases
- Binoculars
- Toy vehicles
- Road signs
Class trip
Go on a class walking adventure! Have students trace a route on a simple map of the school grounds or local neighborhood. Provide drawing materials and ask students to illustrate what they might see on the walk. Bring digital cameras so students can help record what they see on the walk. When you return to the classroom, compile photos into a class book. Have students create captions for the photos.
