Opening Weekend Fiesta

for the New Dora & Diego—Let’s Explore! Exhibit

at the National Museum of Play® September 22 & 23

Say hola to Dora during the Opening Weekend Fiesta for the new Dora & Diego—Let’s Explore! exhibit at the National Museum of Play on Saturday, September 22 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, September 23 from noon to 5 p.m. Join a two-day celebration filled with music, dance, puppetry, and more as follows:

Meet Dora!—Meet, greet, and pose for pictures with Dora during appearances Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. (Dora will return for more meet and greets along with her cousin Diego, on November 10 and 11!)

Music and Dance—Get into the fiesta mood with music by the Mariachi Meliora band from the University of Rochester on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and Sunday at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. On Saturday only: Experience Latin dance performed by Borinquen Dance Theater at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m., then learn a few steps to continue the party at home. 

Spanish for Kids—Learn some Spanish words while singing and clapping with Donna Antario of KidSpanish Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Play Zone—Make your own musical shaker; hop, skip, and jump your way through adventure activities while learning Spanish vocabulary; and tell your own adventure tale with puppets on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Don’t forget to visit the new Dora & Diego—Let’s Explore! exhibit, based on Nickelodeon’s hit preschool series Dora the Explorer and Go Diego, Go!  Join the Pirate Piggies’ crew, visit the Animal Rescue Center, get active in the Rainforest Maze, explore a home on the Purple Planet, and much more. The exhibit remains at the National Museum of Play through January 6, 2013.

All  Opening Weekend Fiesta activities are included with general museum admission fees.

Museum Hours: Monday–Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; 
Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.

Admission Fees: General Admission (does not include admission to Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden®): Adults $13, Seniors $12, Children (2–15) $11, Children younger than two free, Museum members free.

Admission to Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden: General Admission fee plus $2 for members, $4 for nonmembers; children under 2 free. Entry is by timed ticket only.

Parking: Free parking is available at the museum for all guests on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that, on high visitation days, the museum lot may reach capacity early in the day. If space is not available on site at the time of your visit, additional parking is available at neighboring municipal garages for a fee. The Strong is not responsible for fees incurred at off-site locations.
