Celebrating Diversity at the
National Museum of Play®
January 21 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
Honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by Celebrating Diversity at the National Museum of Play at The Strong® on Monday, January 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Celebrate creative expression through interactive theater experiences, a special comic book display, musical sign language, and more.
Enjoy interactive shows by Alfred University’s Art Force Five at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. and see how creativity can assist in problem-solving and in promoting equality. Participants receive an Art Force Five badge.
Also, view a special, one-day-only comic book display by Art Force Five that illustrates America’s journey toward civil rights. The display includes more than 25 classic comics and tackles questions such as, “Was Superman created to fight bullies?” and “Was Marvel’s Black Panther part of the Black Panther party?”
Take part in a musical sign language performance by Dangerous Signs at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. This multicultural group from Rochester Institute of Technology uses dance, miming, storytelling, and audience participation to promote cross-cultural understanding. Learn basic American Sign Language (ASL) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the sisters of RIT’s Tri Sigma Epsilon Psi chapter.
All Celebrating Diversity activities are included with general museum admission fees.
