Most of our backyard adventures as young kids centered around playing Star Wars. I was Princess Leia... The neighborhood dynamic was absorbed into our games, as we ran from house to house, yard to yard - adapting the story to accommodate others who were OK or who we didn't like.
As we grew older and moved away, outdoor games grew more into explorer/ enchanted forest type adventures - and the prerequisite hide & seek in the dark.
