. . .and Enjoy a Weekend of Holiday Cheer December 15 & 16
Every Who down in Who-ville liked Christmas a Lot. . .
But the Grinch, who lived just North of Who-ville, did NOT!
Help Dr. Seuss’s curmudgeonly Grinch celebrate his birthday at The Grinch 50th Birthday Weekend at Strong National Museum of Play on Saturday, December 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 9 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m.
Meet The Grinch “in person” daily (he’ll be on his best behavior!) and enjoy daily readings of How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, which has sold over 5 million copies since its publication in 1957 and is a bestseller every holiday season.
Other weekend activities:
The Jolly Good Fellow, Strong’s old-fashioned Santa, will also be on hand to hear kids’ holiday wishes.
Take part in a stage re-enactment of The Mitten—the old Ukrainian tale of a boy who loses his white mitten in the snow. Join the many woodland creatures that crawl into the missing mitten and be part of the hilarious climax!
Feast your eyes on a giant 19th-century-style dollhouse—Miller Manor Farm—one of the biggest dollhouses in the museum’s collection (7 feet long and 4 feet high) with 24 rooms, 5 stories, and 12 miniature fireplaces. The handmade dollhouse is festively decorated for the holidays and ablaze with scores of real electric lights and tiny holiday decorations.
Plus, take a ride on Strong’s own “Polar Express” train, write a note to Santa and drop it in the “North Pole” mailbox, and create holiday cards.
The Grinch 50th Birthday Weekend is sponsored by Random House Children’s Books, Wegmans, and RocMoms.com.
