EXHIBITS MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST

Job Type:

Minimum High School Diploma with three or more years’ related experience in routine maintenance or carpentry and basic electronics.

Job Description & Qualifications:
Experienced and skilled exhibit maintenance technician with a strong mechanical aptitude. The exhibit maintenance specialist assists in identifying exhibit maintenance needs and performs routine maintenance and repairs as needed.  Duties include, but are not limited to, repairs of exhibit related interactives, fixtures, and components including gallery electronics, A/V equipment and computers; emergency wall repair and touch-up painting; troubleshoots exhibit interactive components and re-fabricates interactives that have continuous maintenance problems; assists with other projects as assigned.  The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; perform duties in a professional manner; able to work independently and in a team; exercise sound judgment; work well under pressure; prioritize workload; and manage several tasks simultaneously.

TEACHING HOST

Job Description & Qualifications:

Strong – National Museum of Play® has immediate openings for hourly-paid K–8 teachers who have NYS certification (or equivalent experience in any content area) and who are familiar with Multiple Intelligence's. Must have a positive attitude and be articulate, enthusiastic, and interested in a flexible part-time schedule.  Must be able to work well with children in non-traditional delivery settings, and able to work well on a team. Lessons are provided.

PRESCHOOL TEACHER

Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education with at least five years teaching three-and four-year-old children, or commensurate experience.

Strong National Museum of Play seeks a strong leader, comfortable in informal teaching and learning environments, with experience implementing curriculum based on Multiple Intelligence's. The successful candidate must be experienced and committed to teaching three-and four-year-old children and designing curriculum that is based on the interests of the students in the class and not a predetermined syllabus. Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with parents and other teachers are also important to this position. Qualified candidates must be flexible and committed to team work and have superb organizational, written, and verbal skills and the ability to self-start and juggle multiple tasks. Must be skilled using a personal computer.

MARKETING ASSISTANT

Job Description & Qualifications:
Participates in daily activities associated with marketing collateral and publications, advertising, public relations, tourism promotion, and other marketing-related activities. Traffics marketing publications, advertising, and publicity materials. Interfaces with internal clients and external vendors; designs, writes, and copyedits material for select marketing publications, advertising, and publicity materials; assists with media relations and other media-related projects; assists with the creation of marketing reports as needed. Requires one or more year’s work experience in marketing, public relations, journalism, or publications environment. Experience using a Microsoft Office platform including database management software; ability to identify and solve problems and to plan, implement, and work on multiple projects; strong organizational skills and attention to detail in record keeping required; exceptional ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; capable of working independently and in a team environment.

DIRECTOR OF SECURITY


Plans, directs, and coordinates activities related to the protection, safeguarding, and security of museum assets, employees, and guests. Supervises security staff; analyzes, evaluates, and supervises museum security operations and procedures; prepares annual security budget; conducts internal investigations and prepares reports relating to losses or violations of museum regulations, policies, and procedures; develops, implements, and manages security training; and serves as museum liaison with public law enforcement, fire, and other agencies.

Fluent knowledge of the English language, and the ability to use English as a first language.

Qualifications: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security, or a closely related field; and/or ten years full-time experience performing supervisory responsibilities or highly responsible work relating to tasks assigned to this position.
