I've lost my membership card, what should I do?
Please contact the membership office at 585-263-2700 x254, membership@museumofplay.org, or stop by the museum admissions desk to request a new card. Your first card reprint will be complimentary; future reprints will incur a $5 processing fee.
How long does it take to get my permanent membership card?
We attempt to mail all permanent membership cards within 10 business days, but sometimes due to high volume, it can take up to two weeks. You can enjoy all of your member benefits using your temporary membership card until the permanent one arrives. For gift memberships, please plan accordingly.
What do you mean by “up to two named adults?”
A membership may be set up for one or two adults (age 18 or older) who reside in the member household. If only one adult lives in the household, only that adult may be listed on the membership. If you bring adults who live outside of the member household often, consider the Add-a-Guest feature (add $30 to any level). This feature allows you to bring one guest free of charge each time you visit.
My spouse will never visit, can I name someone else in his/her place?
You may if the other adult lives in the household. If the adult lives outside the member household, you will need the Add-a-Guest feature to receive free admission (add $30 to any level).
What if I’d like to change one of the names listed on my membership?
We can update your membership record and issue new cards as long as the new person on your membership resides in the member household. There is a $5 processing fee for name changes. Your old cards must be returned to the museum before new cards can be issued.
Why do I need to provide photo ID every time I visit?
We do this to protect the value of your membership. Should your card ever get lost or stolen, photo ID prevents abuse and misuse. Each adult member must provide photo identification when visiting the museum.
We have a new nanny, how do I get a new nanny card?
Please contact the membership office at 585-263-2700 x254, membership@museumofplay.org, or stop by the admissions desk. We must have the previous nanny’s card returned to the museum before a new card can be issued. There is a $5 processing fee when changing nannies.
How do I update my contact information?
Please contact the membership office at 585-263-2700 x254, membership@museumofplay.org, or stop by the admissions desk with your new contact information. We will update your record accordingly.
What is the “reciprocal free or discounted admission” benefit on the Patron-level?
Current Patron-level and higher members receive reciprocal free or discounted admission to museums participating in the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM) reciprocal admission program.
This benefit is only available to members who hold a Patron-level membership or higher. The membership team will mail a special sticker with your permanent membership cards. Affix this sticker to your membership card and bring it with you when you visit a participating museum.
We encourage members to call ahead to confirm the participating museum’s ACM admission policy as not all museum policies are the same and the list of participating museums changes frequently.
Effective April 1, 2013, the Association of Children’s Museums will change the Reciprocal Program admission benefit from free admission to 50% off general admission for up to six people. The current policy will be honored until April 1, 2013.
Why do I only received one ACM sticker with my membership card?
It is the Association of Children’s Museums policy that we provide only one sticker per membership.
I hold a membership to another museum with ACM reciprocation. What is the National Museum of Play's reciprocal admission policy?
The National Museum of Play will provide free admission to members of other museums who have a current membership card with a valid ACM sticker. Photo ID is required. The National Museum of Play will admit up to two named adults and children under the age of 18 living in the member household. This benefit does not extend to guests of ACM members or special add-on features. Please call ahead if you have questions.
Please note: The National Museum of Play will not admit Greater Rochester residents who hold a membership to museums outside of Greater Rochester. The Strong continues to honor ACM memberships from Sciencecenter in Ithaca, New York, and Explore & More Children’s Museum in East Aurora, New York.
Is membership to The Strong's National Museum of Play tax deductible?
The Strong's National Museum of Play is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization. All or part of your membership contribution may be tax deductible. Please consult your tax advisor.
Is there a discount for military personnel?
The museum offers a $5 discount on any membership level to active-duty military personnel (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy) with valid military identification. Please visit the museum admissions desk with your ID. Discount may not be combined with other offers.
